Structural and Stylistic Editing LIBA 9372
Our Structural and Stylistic Editing course is based on the Editors Canada Professional Editorial Standards and is intended to help you prepare to work as a professional editor. The first part of this course is devoted to understanding and applying the principles of structural editing through lectures and practice. Learn how to assess and shape the overall organization and content of material in order to optimize it for the intended audience, medium, and purpose. The second part of the course is devoted to stylistic editing, which refines language, clarifies meaning, and ensures coherence and flow at the paragraph and sentence levels. Explore both conscious language and plain language, and examine typical editorial problems and solutions from both a contextual perspective and an interpersonal perspective.
